The Chief Medical Officers’ Physical Activity Guidelines

The Chief Medical Officers’ Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that adults aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise (like brisk walking or cycling) or 75 minutes of vigorous activity each week. It’s beneficial to spread activity throughout the week and include muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days. For children and young people, at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous activity daily is advised. These guidelines help improve overall health, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, support mental well-being, and promote a healthy weight.
