The Cell Cycle (textbook)

The cell cycle is a series of steps that cells go through to grow and divide. It includes phases: in the first, the cell grows and prepares (interphase), then duplicates its DNA (also part of interphase). Next is mitosis, where the cell's nucleus divides into two identical parts, and finally, cytokinesis, where the cell splits into two separate daughter cells. This process helps organisms grow, repair tissues, and reproduce cells. The cycle is tightly regulated to ensure healthy development and prevent issues like uncontrolled growth.
