The Carolina Campaigns

The Carolina Campaigns were two major military efforts during the American Civil War in 1862, aimed at gaining control of the strategic Carolinas region. Union forces led by generals like William Tecumseh Sherman advanced into North and South Carolina to weaken Confederate hold and secure key transportation routes. The campaigns involved sieges, battles, and eventual advances that disrupted Confederate supply lines and infrastructure. They were part of the larger Anaconda Plan to squeeze the Confederacy economically and militarily. These campaigns paved the way for Sherman's famous March to the Sea, helping shift the balance toward Union victory.
