The Camden Town Group
The Camden Town Group was a collective of British artists active in the early 20th century, around 1911-1913, centered in London’s Camden Town. They aimed to capture modern life and urban scenes with bold colors, vivid brushwork, and a focus on everyday subjects. Influenced by Post-Impressionism and Fauvism, their work emphasized personal expression and a break from traditional styles. Key members included Henry Lamb, Lucien Pissarro, and Walter Sickert. Although the group was short-lived, their innovative approach significantly contributed to modern British art by blending realism with expressive techniques.
