The Brownfields Program

The Brownfields Program is a government initiative aimed at encouraging the redevelopment and cleanup of previously used or contaminated land—known as brownfields—so communities can repurpose these areas safely. These sites often include old factories, warehouses, or abandoned commercial spaces that may have environmental issues but are valuable for future development. The program offers funding, technical assistance, and incentives to help developers, businesses, and local governments clean up and reuse these sites, promoting economic growth, revitalization, and environmental health while reducing urban sprawl and unnecessary land consumption.
