The Brahimi Report

The Brahimi Report, published in 2000, was an important analysis by Lakhdar Brahimi on how the UN manages peacekeeping missions. It identified challenges including unclear mandates, limited resources, and coordination issues, which hindered effective conflict resolution. The report recommended reforms such as clearer goals, better planning, stronger leadership, and improved troop contributions to enhance the success and credibility of UN peace missions. Its aim was to make peacekeeping more professional, accountable, and capable of addressing complex conflicts around the world.
