The Boyer Commission on Educating Undergraduates in the Research University

The Boyer Commission was a report published in 1998 that examined how research universities teach undergraduate students. It recommended that these institutions should focus more on active, hands-on learning and engaging students in research experiences. The goal was to make education more meaningful and prepare students better for future careers by encouraging them to think critically, solve real-world problems, and participate in the actual process of discovery. Essentially, it called for a shift from traditional lectures to more interactive, research-based learning to enhance student understanding and involvement in their fields.
