The Blackfoot Confederacy
The Blackfoot Confederacy is a historic alliance of three Indigenous nations—the Siksika, Piikani, and Kainai—located primarily in what is now Montana and Alberta. They share common language, culture, and traditions, and coordinated for defense, trade, and social matters. Historically, they were skilled buffalo hunters and nomadic, moving with the buffalo herds across the plains. Today, they continue to preserve their heritage, language, and sovereignty while engaging in modern governance and cultural revitalization efforts. The Confederacy plays a vital role in maintaining their identity and rights within North America.
