The Betty Ford Institute
The Betty Ford Institute was an organization founded in 1982 to promote education, research, and public awareness about addiction and recovery. Named after former First Lady Betty Ford, who publicly shared her own struggles with alcohol and substance abuse, it aimed to improve treatment techniques and reduce stigma associated with addiction. The Institute also worked to inform patients, families, and healthcare providers, fostering a better understanding of addiction as a health issue. Although it formally closed in 2016, its legacy continues through ongoing efforts in addiction treatment and education.
