The Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa

The Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa, fought in 1212, was a major conflict in southern Spain where Christian forces from various kingdoms united to defeat the Moors, who had controlled much of the region. The Christian armies aimed to regain territory and weaken Moor dominance. The battle took place in the Sierra Morena mountains and turned the tide in the Reconquista, the centuries-long effort to reconquer Spain from Muslim rule. The victory significantly diminished Moorish power in the Iberian Peninsula and paved the way for further Christian advances.
