The Banality of Evil
The Banality of Evil is a concept introduced by philosopher Hannah Arendt, suggesting that heinous actions can result from ordinary individuals following rules and bureaucratic procedures without malicious intent. It highlights how evil can arise not only from ideological Flask or monstrous individuals, but also through complacency, thoughtlessness, or uncritical obedience within institutions. Essentially, it shows that ordinary people, under certain circumstances, can commit or enable atrocities simply by conforming to roles, without recognizing the moral implications of their actions.
