The Back to Sleep Campaign
The Back to Sleep Campaign is a public health initiative that encourages caregivers to place infants on their backs to sleep, reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Research shows that babies sleeping on their backs are less likely to suffocate or experience unsafe sleep conditions. The campaign promotes safe sleep environments, including a firm mattress, a fitted sheet, and keeping the sleep area free of loose bedding and toys. Since its launch, the initiative has significantly decreased SIDS cases, helping ensure safer sleep for infants during their critical early months.
