The Bön religion
The Bön religion is an ancient spiritual tradition originating in Tibet, predating Buddhism in the region. It combines shamanistic practices, animism, and spiritual rituals aimed at understanding nature, guiding life, and maintaining harmony with the environment. Bön beliefs include reverence for deities, spirits, and ancestors, as well as rituals to heal, protect, and ensure prosperity. Although influenced by Buddhism over centuries, Bön maintains its unique identity through sacred texts, meditative practices, and ceremonies, serving as a cultural foundation for the spiritual heritage of Tibet and surrounding regions.
