The Australian Film Institute

The Australian Film Institute (AFI) was a prominent organization dedicated to supporting, promoting, and celebrating Australian cinema. It organized the annual AFI Awards, honoring the best Australian films and filmmakers, and provided resources to nurture talent within the industry. The AFI also engaged in industry advocacy, education, and awarded scholarships. In 2011, it merged with the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA), forming AACTA, which continues to promote Australian film excellence today. The AFI played a key role in elevating Australia's presence in the global film landscape.
