The Association for the Study of African American Life and History
The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) is an organization dedicated to researching, preserving, and sharing the history, culture, and contributions of African Americans. Founded in 1915 by Carter G. Woodson, it promotes awareness and understanding of African American experiences through publications, events, and educational programs. ASALH also sponsors Black History Month in February, encouraging recognition of African American achievements year-round. Its goal is to foster knowledge and appreciation of African American history to enrich understanding of American history and society.
