The Arab Revolt

The Arab Revolt (1916–1918) was a major uprising against the Ottoman Empire during World War I, led by Arab leaders seeking independence. Promoted by British support, notably through T.E. Lawrence ("Lawrence of Arabia"), Arabs aimed to establish their own nation-states free from Ottoman rule. The revolt involved guerrilla warfare and aimed to weaken the Ottoman Empire, which was allied with Germany. It ultimately contributed to the Empire’s collapse and the post-war division of Arab lands, shaping modern Middle Eastern borders and national identities.
