The Anglo-Ottoman Treaty
The Anglo-Ottoman Treaty, signed in 1914, was an agreement between Britain and the Ottoman Empire during World War I. It established a temporary alliance, with Britain promising certain protections and assistance to the Ottomans, and the Ottomans agreeing to remain neutral or support Britain against their common enemies. The treaty aimed to prevent Ottoman entry into the war on the side of the Central Powers and to secure strategic interests in the region. Although it was short-lived and replaced by other treaties after the war, it marked a significant diplomatic effort to manage regional alliances during a turbulent period.
