The Angel of the North
The Angel of the North is a large steel sculpture located in Gateshead, England, designed by artist Antony Gormley. Standing 20 meters (66 feet) tall with a wingspan of 54 meters (177 feet), it is one of the UK's most iconic public artworks. Installed in 1998, it symbolizes Northern England’s industrial heritage and hopes for the future. Its massive wings extend outward, creating a striking visual against the landscape, and it serves as a landmark and reminder of community identity, blending art, engineering, and regional pride.
