The Anatomy of the Voice
The voice is produced when air from the lungs passes through the vocal cords in the larynx (voice box). These cords vibrate, creating sound waves that are modified by the throat, mouth, and nose to form speech. The tension and length of the vocal cords, controlled by muscles, determine pitch and tone, while their strength influences volume. The resonating spaces in the throat and mouth shape the sound, giving each voice its unique quality. Together, these structures work seamlessly to produce clear, expressive speech.
