The ALMA Partnership
The ALMA Partnership is a global collaboration among North American, European, and East Asian countries, along with Chile, to operate the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). ALMA is one of the world’s most powerful telescopes, consisting of 66 high-precision antennas located in Chile's Atacama Desert. This partnership combines resources, expertise, and funding to study the universe at millimeter and submillimeter wavelengths, enabling scientists to explore cosmic phenomena such as star formation, galaxy evolution, and planetary systems in unprecedented detail.
