The Alamo
The Alamo is a historic mission and fortress in San Antonio, Texas, famous for a pivotal 1836 battle during Texas's fight for independence from Mexico. A small group of Texan defenders, including famous figures like Davy Crockett and William Travis, held the Alamo against a much larger Mexican army led by General Santa Anna. Although the Texans were overwhelmed, the battle became a symbol of bravery and resistance, inspiring Texas to eventually win independence.
