The Act of Accord
The Act of Accord was a political agreement in England in 1460 that aimed to resolve a conflict over the monarchy. It declared that King Henry VI would remain king but dissatisfied nobles, especially Richard of York, would be recognized as heirs to the throne if Henry died without an heir. This act temporarily prevented Edward IV, who had declared himself king, from claiming the throne. It was an attempt to balance power and prevent civil war, but tensions continued, contributing to ongoing conflicts during the Wars of the Roses.
