The 9/11 Commission

The 9/11 Commission was a United States government body established in 2002 to investigate the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Its goal was to understand how and why the attacks happened, identify security failures, and recommend improvements to prevent future terrorism. The commission conducted thorough interviews, reviewed intelligence and security procedures, and published a detailed report in 2004. Its findings highlighted gaps in U.S. intelligence and airport security, leading to reforms such as the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and changes in counterterrorism strategies.
