The 5E Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate)
The 5E Model is a teaching framework that guides effective learning through five stages: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. It starts by capturing students' interest (Engage), then allows them to investigate and discover concepts on their own (Explore). Next, the teacher clarifies and formalizes understanding (Explain). Students further apply and deepen their knowledge (Elaborate), followed by assessments to ensure comprehension and provide feedback (Evaluate). This approach promotes active learning, critical thinking, and understanding by structuring lessons that build on students’ prior knowledge and foster meaningful engagement.
