Thames & Severn Canal
The Thames & Severn Canal was a historic waterway built in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to connect the River Thames at Гастингс and the River Severn at Stourport, facilitating transportation between eastern and western England. It spans approximately 29 miles, featuring locks, tunnels, and aqueducts to navigate elevation changes. The canal played a vital role in shifting goods before the rise of railways, but declined in use during the 19th century as trains became more popular. Today, some sections are preserved as heritage sites, showcasing engineering history and offering recreational activities like walking and boating.
