Thalamic syndrome

Thalamic syndrome is a neurological condition caused by damage to the thalamus, a deep brain structure that relays sensory and motor signals. This damage often results from a stroke or injury and can lead to symptoms like intense pain or burning sensations (central pain), abnormal sensory perceptions, and loss of sensation on one side of the body. Patients may also experience motor issues, coordination problems, or difficulties with speech. Because the thalamus plays a key role in processing sensory information, its damage disrupts normal sensation and perception, affecting how individuals experience the world around them.
