Thai–Japanese Alliance

The Thai–Japanese Alliance, established in 1941, was a formal agreement between Thailand and Japan during World War II. It aimed to strengthen cooperation for mutual benefit, particularly in military and economic areas. Thailand, seeking to maintain its sovereignty, aligned with Japan after initial neutrality, leading to Japan's military presence in Southeast Asia. The alliance was part of Japan’s broader expansion during the war, but it also reflected Thailand’s strategic efforts to navigate regional pressures. After the war, Thailand distanced itself from the alliance, focusing on rebuilding and maintaining good relations with Western countries.
