Thai Agut

Thai Agut is a traditional form of Thai chess, known as "Makruk." It is played on an 8x8 board, resembling Western chess but features different pieces and rules. Each player starts with eight pawns, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, a queen (called "Khun"), and a king. The objective is to checkmate the opponent's king. Unlike Western chess, pieces have unique movements: for example, the Khun can only move one square at a time. Thai Agut emphasizes strategy and foresight, often requiring players to anticipate their opponent's moves several turns in advance. It remains a popular game in Thailand today.
