Théâtre de la Mode

Théâtre de la Mode was a 1945–1946 British exhibition featuring miniature fashion mannequins, created from wire and fine fabrics. Designed as a response to post-World War II shortages, it showcased the talents of top designers and models in a theatrical setting. The tiny figures, standing about 2-5 inches tall, highlighted couture and craftsmanship, emphasizing fashion’s artistic side while conserving resources. The exhibition aimed to boost morale, promote fashion design, and demonstrate resilience after the war. Today, it is celebrated as an innovative blend of art, fashion, and craftsmanship that reflects the enduring creative spirit.
