TGA instrumentation
Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) instrumentation measures how a material’s weight changes as it’s heated or cooled. The sample is placed in a small, sensitive furnace inside a sealed chamber, with a precise balance to detect weight changes. As the temperature varies, the instrument records weight loss or gain due to processes like decomposition, evaporation, or oxidation. This data helps scientists understand material composition, stability, and thermal properties. TGA is used across industries such as polymers, food, pharmaceuticals, and materials science for quality control and research.
