Texas v. Brown

Texas v. Brown (1983) was a legal case where the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that police don't need a warrant or probable cause before detaining a person based on a reasonable suspicion of illegal activity, especially in situations where the person’s behavior or appearance suggests involvement in crime, such as drug trafficking. The case centered on whether police could stop and search a suspect based solely on their observation of suspicious objects in plain view during a lawful stop. The Court decided that if a police officer has a reasonable belief that a person is involved in crime, they can temporarily detain and briefly search without additional probable cause.
