Texas Revolution

The Texas Revolution (1835-1836) was a conflict where Texas, then part of Mexico, fought for independence. Settlers and Tejanos (Mexican Texans) wanted self-rule due to cultural differences and disagreements over laws and governance, especially after Mexico’s central government tightened control. Key battles, like the Alamo, became symbols of resistance. Ultimately, Texas declared independence, and after the decisive Battle of San Jacinto, Mexican forces surrendered. Texas then became an independent Republic until joining the United States in 1845. The revolution significantly shaped Texas’s identity and its territorial boundaries.
