TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units)

TEUs, or Twenty-foot Equivalent Units, are a standard measurement used in shipping and logistics to quantify container capacity. One TEU represents the volume of a standard 20-foot-long shipping container. Larger containers, such as 40-foot units, are counted as two TEUs. This metric allows companies and ports to efficiently compare and organize cargo capacity and movements, regardless of the container sizes involved. Essentially, TEUs provide a uniform way to measure and communicate the scale of cargo transport across global trade networks.
