Tertiary Recovery

Tertiary recovery, also known as enhanced oil recovery (EOR), involves techniques used to extract additional oil from a reservoir after primary and secondary methods have been exhausted. It typically includes methods like injecting steam, chemicals, gases, or CO₂ to change the properties of the oil, making it easier toflow to the wellbore. This process aims to maximize the amount of recoverable oil from an underground formation, improving overall extraction efficiency and extending the productive life of an oil field. Tertiary recovery is more complex and costly but essential for tapping into remaining reserves.
