Terror (ship)
HMS Terror was a British Royal Navy ship built in the early 19th century, originally designed for Arctic exploration. It is most famous for its role in Sir John Franklin's ill-fated 1845 expedition to find the Northwest Passage, during which it became trapped and was abandoned in the Arctic. The ship’s remains were discovered in 2016, providing valuable archaeological insights into Arctic exploration and 19th-century shipbuilding. Over time, the vessel evolved from an exploration ship to a supply and transport vessel, reflecting its adaptability. Its story highlights the dangers and ambitions of polar exploration in the era.
