Terra Nova Expedition (Robert Falcon Scott)
The Terra Nova Expedition (1910-1913) was led by British explorer Robert Falcon Scott, aiming to be the first to reach the South Pole. The team faced extreme Antarctic conditions, navigating treacherous ice and storms. They reached the Pole in January 1912, only to find Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen had beat them by over a month. On their return journey, Scott’s group encountered severe hardships, including starvation, frostbite, and blizzards. Ultimately, Scott and his four companions perished just weeks from base, their story symbolizing perseverance and tragic human endeavor in one of Earth's most inhospitable environments.
