Termite caste system
The termite caste system organizes colony members into specialized groups: the reproductive king and queen, who produce offspring; workers, who forage, build, and care for the colony; and soldiers, who defend against predators. This division of labor helps the colony function efficiently and ensures its survival. Each caste has distinct physical traits suited to their roles—workers and soldiers are typically sterile, while the king and queen are fertile. This hierarchical structure enables termites to effectively maintain and expand their colony through a division of responsibilities.
