Tepuis

Tepuis are towering, flat-topped mountains found mainly in Venezuela's Guiana Shield, formed over millions of years through erosion of surrounding softer rock. Their steep, cliff-like sides and isolated summits create unique ecosystems, often harboring rare plants and animals. Tepuis are like natural islands rising dramatically from the landscape, offering striking scenery and scientific interest due to their ancient origins and unique biodiversity. They’re sometimes called table-top mountains because of their distinctive flat tops. Their remote locations make them both challenging to explore and vital for studying evolution, ecology, and geological history.
