Tents (Bayt al-sha'ar)

Tents, or Bayt al-sha'ar (House of Hair), were portable structures used by nomadic and Bedouin communities, primarily in desert regions. Constructed from a framework of wooden or metal poles covered with woven fabrics or animal hides, these tents offered flexible shelter adaptable to changing environments. Their design allowed for easy assembly, disassembly, and transport, symbolizing mobility and community cohesion. Tents provided protection from harsh weather, privacy, and a communal space for family life. Despite their simplicity, they were essential for survival in desert life, blending practicality with cultural significance in Arab traditions.
