Tensiometer

A tensiometer is a device used to measure the tension or moisture potential in soil, which indicates how tightly water is held in the soil. It typically consists of a sealed tube filled with water, with a porous ceramic tip buried in the soil. As the soil dries, it pulls water from the tube, creating a vacuum. The level of vacuum helps determine how much water is available for plants. Tensiometers are useful for farmers and gardeners to effectively manage irrigation and ensure plants receive the right amount of water.
