Tenascin

Tenascin is a protein found in the body’s extracellular matrix, which is the supportive tissue surrounding cells. It plays a crucial role in tissue development, repair, and regeneration by influencing cell growth, movement, and communication. Tenascin is especially abundant during embryonic development and wound healing, but it’s also present in some adult tissues, particularly in areas undergoing regeneration or affected by disease. Its flexible structure helps modulate interactions between cells and their environment, contributing to processes like tissue remodeling, nerve regeneration, and immune responses.
