Temporomandibular Joint Injury
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) injury involves damage or dysfunction of the joint connecting the jawbone to the skull. This joint enables movements like talking, chewing, and opening the mouth. Injuries can result from trauma, overuse, or arthritis, leading to symptoms such as pain, clicking or popping sounds, difficulty opening the mouth, and jaw stiffness. Treatment may include rest, physical therapy, pain management, or, in some cases, surgical intervention. Recognizing and addressing TMJ injury early can help restore normal jaw function and reduce discomfort.
