Temporal lobectomy
A temporal lobectomy is a surgical procedure where part of the temporal lobe of the brain is removed. This is usually done to help control seizures that originate from that area, especially in cases where medications haven't been effective. The temporal lobe plays a key role in memory, language, and emotional responses. During the surgery, the surgeon carefully removes the affected tissue to reduce or eliminate seizures while preserving important functions. This procedure can significantly improve quality of life for people with severe temporal lobe epilepsy.
