temporal binding

Temporal binding is the brain’s process of linking related events that occur close together in time, making them feel like part of a single experience. For example, when you press a button and a detected sound happens shortly afterward, your brain tends to fuse these actions, perceiving your press as causing the sound. This helps us understand cause and effect smoothly, creating a coherent sense of when things happen. Essentially, the brain adjusts the perceived timing of events to bridge gaps, making related events feel more connected than they actually are in time.
