Templars (Order of the Temple)
The Knights Templar, formally known as the Order of the Temple, was a medieval Christian military order founded in 1119 to protect pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. They combined martial prowess with religious devotion, establishing themselves as a powerful organization that managed forts, castles, and financial activities across Europe. Their distinctive white mantles with a red cross made them recognizable. The Templars became wealthy and influential but were disbanded in the early 14th century amid political and religious tensions, leading to myths of secret knowledge and conspiracy. Today, they are often remembered for their role during the Crusades and the enduring mystery surrounding their history.
