Templar of Italy
The Templars of Italy were part of the Knights Templar, a medieval Christian military order founded in the 12th century. They were established to protect pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land and to fight in the Crusades. In Italy, the Templars built fortresses, churches, and managed agricultural lands, becoming influential both economically and politically. Their presence extended across various Italian cities, where they offered banking services and established networks for trade. However, in the early 14th century, the order faced persecution, leading to its decline and eventual dissolution by Pope Clement V in 1312.
