telomeropathy

Telomeropathy refers to conditions caused by problems with telomeres, which are protective caps at the ends of our chromosomes that help maintain genetic stability. Each time a cell divides, these telomeres shorten, and when they become too short, the cell can no longer function properly or divide safely. This can lead to premature aging, immune system issues, or increased risk of certain diseases, especially affecting the bone marrow, skin, and lungs. Essentially, telomeropathy involves faulty telomere maintenance, disrupting normal cell function and health.
