Telomere Theory
The Telomere Theory suggests that each time our cells divide, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes called telomeres become shorter. Over time, as telomeres shrink, cells can no longer divide effectively, leading to aging and cellular decline. When telomeres become too short, cells may stop functioning properly or die, contributing to aging and age-related diseases. Essentially, telomeres act like biological clocks, limiting how many times cells can multiply and influencing the aging process.
