Telomere Research

Telomere research studies the protective caps at the ends of our chromosomes, called telomeres. Each time our cells divide, these telomeres shorten, which is linked to aging and cellular health. When they become too short, cells can stop functioning properly or die, contributing to aging and age-related diseases. Scientists are exploring ways to maintain or lengthen telomeres, hoping to improve health, extend lifespan, and treat age-associated conditions. This research combines genetics, molecular biology, and medicine to understand how telomeres influence aging and how we might intervene to promote healthier, longer lives.
