Tektite II
Tektite II was a NASA-sponsored scientific experiment involving humans living in a controlled environment on the ocean floor from January to March 1969. Its purpose was to study how extended underwater habitation affects humans, including psychological and physiological changes, as well as to test life support systems. Six aquanauts spent about 60 days at a depth of 15 meters (50 feet) off the coast of Florida, conducting research and experiments underwater. Tektite II built on previous missions (Tektite I) and helped advance knowledge for future space missions by understanding the effects of isolated, confined environments similar to space habitation.
